Twelve Things You Ought
to Know About GOD, THE WORLD, ALL MANKIND,
and YOU
Background:
1. The God of
the Bible exists (eternal, personal, just, loving, self-disclosing, infinite,
omniscient, omnipotent, omni-benevolent, triune, etc.).
2. God
created the entire world, and is therefore rightly sovereign over the entire world.
3. God created
man with the unique capacity to relate to Him, and is rightly sovereign over all
men.
4. God requires
moral perfection from man in order to maintain that relationship, because God
is morally perfect.
5.
Disobedience to God results in alienation from God, because God is just.
6. God requires
an atonement to remedy any alienation between God and man.
The Bad News:
7. All men
are disobedient to God, therefore, all men are either temporarily
or eternally alienated from God.
8. Man is not
able to atone for himself, or provide a remedy for this alienation, though he
attempts to do so through many inadequate religions and philosophies.
The Good News:
9. Even
though man is not able to provide a remedy for his alienation from God, God
Himself provides a remedy.
10. God loves
man very much and gave Jesus Christ to be the remedy for this alienation.
11. Jesus
Christ, who is God incarnate, died to atone for the disobedience of man and
satisfied God’s just requirement for an atonement.
12. Any man who repents of his disobedience towards God and exercises
faith alone in Christ alone for the glory of God alone (whereas “faith” and
“Christ” and “glory of God” are defined by the inerrant Bible alone) to remedy
his alienation from God can enjoy fellowship with God now and forever, and thus
renders his alienation from God to be only temporary. Any man who fails to
repent and exercise faith alone in Christ alone for the glory of God alone will
not enjoy fellowship with God, and thus renders his alienation from God to be
eternal.
